Encis is growing and our space is growing with it!

Ten years ago Encis began its journey as an ICT partner in the heart of Hoorn, at Grote Noord 9. With the motto "It must do it, always, everywhere and on every device," a home was found in a place that has a rich history and was chosen for its beauty, culture and convenience.

"Many people still ask me why I chose this location back then," says Nicolien Jorritsma, founder and owner of Encis. She continues: "The answer is simple. Although the location is unusual, I was of the opinion that this location could only produce beautiful things. Like the route to it. And the beautiful look with high ceilings inside.  That you can soak up culture, history and conviviality during the break with a walk around. But also that at the end of a working day, when the weather is nice, you can all chat on the terrace. What we added was that there is always something to see or happen. An event on the Roode Steen, the Wednesday markets, but also the shoppers who walk by."

The building at Grote Noord 9 has a rich history and previously served as a clothing warehouse and store (for colonial goods), among other things. But there is also a history together with Grote Noord 11.

The connection to Grote Noord 11

What few people know is that back in the last century a connection was made between Grote Noord 9 and Grote Noord 11. Once a door was made between the two properties when the Roozendaal brothers expanded their Gold, Silver and Diamond factory from number 11 to number 9. And that same door remained in use when Frits van der Werff opened his gym in the 1980s.

After the gym moved, the door was boarded up. And now the time has come to open it again!

Growth of Encis and changing needs

Together with the growth of Encis in recent years, several renovations have been made to the building at No. 9. Meanwhile, the need and interpretation of the workplace has changed, and the expansion to number 11 fulfills that need.

More opportunity will be created to focus, there will be separate rooms for calling, as well as meeting and project rooms where clients can be received and collaborate.

Nicolien explains enthusiastically, "We will have a real boardroom, meeting rooms, several focus rooms, a calling room, a large lounge area and a separate 'management office'. I especially have to get used to the latter. Although the drawing says 'Nicolien office', I suspect that this space will also (or especially) be used by colleagues. I am used to being in the commotion and, although I will soon have my own office, I will certainly continue to seek this out."

The renovation is expected to be completed on July 1 so that from then on the extension to number 11 can be officially inaugurated and Encis' new address will then be Grote Noord 9-11!

Expansion and atmosphere from number 9 to number 11
